Things I’m Loving Friday

Today I’m linking up with Heather over at Life in Leggings.

Things I’m Loving or Friday Favorites, however you want to say it, here are mine:

I love yogurt, fruit and granola!

This morning it was plain greek yogurt with peaches and granola.

I love my planner!

Which goes right along with my love of paper, markers and stickers!  I love reading blogs about planners and now watching videos where people decorate their planners. (I wish I was kidding)

I also wish I was kidding when I tell you I bought stickers from the following etsy vendors and when they arrive, I am going to kiss the mail person and decorate the crap out of my planner (even more than I already have).  It might take all day.  I might run out of stickers.  Or paper.

It’s Planning Time

The Pretty Planner

Planner Candy

The Planner Junkie Inc

Sweet Kawaii Design

Here are four of my fav blogs because I KNOW you want to get in on this with me! (click on their logo to go to their blog).  There are so many other great ones out there and I have spent  an obsceeeene about of time reading these beautiful blogs.

Ugh. There is so much creativity.  It will make your hands twitch to color something and you will, for sure, want a new full set of Sharpies before the day ends.

My Grandpa Palmer is who gave me my love for pens.  He LOVED collecting pens.

He also loved Hobby Lobby.

I remember going to Hobby Lobby with him and my Grandma and I could feel the excited energy wafting off them.  Walking in to a store like that, as a kid, where things are displayed clear to the ceiling.  There’s no going back from that feeling.

I can remember looking up with wide eyes and taking it all in with excitement.  There is just so much to see!  Then my Grandpa bought me a high-back, wicker chair with a tropical cushion, that was high on a shelf against the wall by the entrance and exit doors, and my love for that store was sealed.  I loved that darn chair.  I still had it when I moved out at 18 years old!

It’s for those same feelings that I love Bed, Bath and Beyond (and Hobby Lobby) as an adult.  There is something to be said, advertising/display people, about the emotions created when you walk in to a store with merchandise positioned high.

It makes you feel like a kid to look up and feel excited and who doesn’t want to feel like a kid or be excited?!  Those are some strong shopping emotions if I do say so myself and they get me. I’ll buy that red ladle that I have to get a sales associate, with a ladder, to get down for me. Every time.

My love of Hobby Lobby as a kid could also have been because it sounds like Holly Hobbie and I had mad love for Holly Hobbie!  Like a whole bedroom decorated with that theme and maybe a lunch box.

I also love the book I’m reading.

Man, it’s a good one.  If you are feeling like you need to establish a new routine but keep getting sucked back in to your old one, this is a good read for you!

I love Step Ups!

I did this workout on Wednesday.  Step ups totally zap my breath but they are the one exercise that shave down my hips and outer thigh.  So I love them for that.

There is also this one that was a good one.

And this one…

In conclusion…

I love yogurt parfaits.

I love my planner.

I love markers, paper and stickers.

I love to read blogs and watch videos of people decorating their planners.

I love my Grandpa.

I love Hobby Lobby.

I love Bed, Bath, Beyond.

I love stores that display their merchandise where I have to look up.

I love the book I’m reading, The Power of Habit

I love step ups.

I think I also love coffee and have had too much of it.

Happy Friday, Friends!  I hope YOUR day is full of everything and everyone YOU love!

Swamp Fanny

So, in case you are just waking up from the winter, Kansas City has gotten a lot of rain as of late.

And, I mean, A. LOT.

It’s starting to wear on people’s emotions.

I don’t really feel affected by the weather.  I am going to lay around in my PJ’s, unless I absolutely have to put on regular clothes, whether it is raining or not.

Ya’ll know I love my oats and eggs.

Except in the Summer.

For three hot (apparently now rainy) months, I switch to Yogurt and Granola with fruit. Every. Day.

It’s just so good!

My new fav is frozen blueberries, fresh strawberries, plain greek yogurt and granola.

Here’s a little recap of our week so far….

I know, it doesn’t look like much. Annnnnd honestly, I hadn’t been in the gym in a while so the walking lunges alone could make sitting on the toilet dreadful, but I am still sore from this workout on Monday.

I met up with a couple of friends and we walked 5 miles.  One of the friends brought these two fluff fannies (I like to say fanny).

I came home and leashed my girls and walked another 30 minutes.  I didn’t take them on the long walk, because their little legs can’t take 5 miles and my ego can’t handle carrying a maltese and beagle for 2.5 miles. Let the visual of me caring two dogs, for 2.5 miles, soak in.

They were happy and hot and chill for the rest of the day!

I spent a lot of time getting our life together in my planner and made a strong effort to get in more water.

A new water bottle does it every time!

We ate tacos. #duh

Our shared love of tacos is one of the secrets to our 20 year relationship. #writethatdown

Yesterday I took one of our clients to an appointment and had to come home and lay down on the floor to decompress.  I was pretty worn out the rest of the day.  I did more work associated with that client throughout the day and ended up with a super positive outcome so it was worth it!

That brings us to Friday!  I have a super fun day planned!

I’m going to do this workout again, have lunch with a friend and dinner to celebrate another June birthday!

Better get going!

Happy Friday, Friends!

39 Feels Just Fine

Well, for goodness sake, it’s been TWELVE days since I last posted.

Oh, just busy turning 39 years old!

The BEST part?  Justin gave me the past two weekends off from work.  That means Justin took the load of our group home for those weekends and I relaxed and ate bons-bons.

He started my birthday off with a beautiful bouquet.

I’ve been starting my days in the screened in porch, reading and drinking coffee.

My Mother and Father-in-Law gave me this laughing Buddha!

And my Mom and Stepdad gave me this Begonia for our porch.  I love sitting out there and enjoying all the beauty!

We’ve lunched. A lot.

I’ve treated myself to Yogurtini and a Starbuck’s mini Caramel Cocoa Cluster!

I rarely go to Starbucks because I love those dang Fraps but they are so sugary I feel like I’m having a heart attack.  These minis are just enough. Thank you Starbucks!

I’ve been cooking. A lot.

Fried eggs, shaved then sautéed asparagus and bacon.  Shaved asparagus is my new favorite thing to do.IMG_1374

Crab cakes, corn on the cob, grilled asparagus.

Steamed, then chopped broccoli with a crab cake and runny eggs.

Braised short ribs, buttermilk mashed potatoes with roasted green beans.

We made it to the gym (once).

We took several walks.

But, mostly…

The past couple of weeks have been wonderful.  We’ve spent time with family and lots of time with each other.

Oh, before I go, I have to share my new blog obsession….Organized Charm

It is a fabulous blog about organization but not just home organization, LIFE organization.  When you get a minute (or 1,000), check her out!

Friends and Family

It’s finally here!

I love the month of June.  Not only is it my birthday month but Summer officially kicks off in June.  Everyone is happy as they don their summer uniform of shorts, flip flops and sunglasses.

Days are long and and full of sunshine!

Oh man, it’s a good month.

We had a great weekend!

….but no one will ever get to see it because I didn’t take one picture!

You are just going to have to trust me, we ended in May in a big way at the Beach House.

Friday we hosted a couples night at our house.  These beauties came over and brought their men with them for some dinner and Cards Against Humanity. (<<<<have you played that yet?!)

I made Spinach, Black Bean, Corn and Cheese Enchiladas with seasoned ground beef and shredded, green-chili chicken on the side.  My thinking, in serving enchiladas this way, was that it gives everyone three options without making three pans of enchiladas.  You can have meatless or you can top your enchilada with chicken or beef or BOTH! (I chose both and it was delicious!)  Justin made cheese dip (he made standard rotel then added pepperjack cheese and sausage!) and guacamole.  Mary brought chips and seven-layer dip.  Kristin brought Sangria!

The drinks flowed as did the laughter waaaaay past all of our bed times.

I woke up Saturday with a cheese hangover and a list of things to get done before Sunday.

Family Dinner

While Friday night was filled with friends, Sunday was all about the family.

We filled our bellies with a pot-luck style lunch and celebrated birthdays with angel food cake that my Step-Mom made and peppermint chocolate cake that I made (recipe from Justin’s Stepmom Jane).

It was a beautiful day so we spent time outside with the kids.

As we wrapped up the weekend…

Justin and I felt so grateful.  We have a wonderful home that welcomes good friends for a night full of laughter and two days later it’s filled with screams and chatter from nephews and family.  Our home was full of so many people we love this weekend and I can’t think of a better way to wrap up the month of May!

What did you all do this weekend?  Is it raining where you live?
