The first picture is a hat (obviously) and then headband ear warmers.

The bearded hat is for my cousin, who asked me to make it for her husband.  Those things are so silly.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

The Feast

Yesterday was such a busy and fun day!

I started the day with a KC Diva workout.

We are all wearing the Christmas hats I made!

We worked our butts off and after all our heads were totally soaked with sweat, because of those hats, it was time to get home and get ready for Thanksgiving.

Justin made the BEST turkey!  The brine he used was amazeballs and then he made a sage butter and rubbed the turkey with it before cooking! ahmahgahitwasdelish.

Justin’s Sister brought the salad and his Mom brought the sweet potatoes and PIE, pumpkin and pecan!

I forgot to take a picture of my plate, but I ate turkey, salad, green bean casserole and a couple of deviled eggs. I steered clear of the carbs so I could have a small piece of pecan pie and a couple glasses of wine.

It was a great day!

We were exhausted by 7pm and snuggled up in bed to watch TV for the night!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving has a day full of safe traveling, family and of course yummy food!

We are hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year for Justin’s Mom, her fiancĂ©, Justin’s sister and her boyfriend.  We got a lot done yesterday.  I made the cornbread dressing, green bean casserole and candied yams.  All I have to do today is warm all that up and put the toppings on them, make deviled eggs and mashed potatoes and gravy.  Justin put the turkey in a brine over night, so he’ll be putting that in the oven shortly.

But first!  I am starting my day with my KC Divas for a workout!  Come back tomorrow to see how much fun we had!

First World Problems

Good Morning, Friends!

I have really pulled my head out of my fanny this week and I feel fan-freakin’-tastic!

This little video put things in perspective:

Diana’s Dad and Stepmom have been a part of a group that have been going to Haiti for years, even before their disaster.  Diana has done fundraisers and sponsors 20 kids (even more now as you will learn in the video) but made the decision to go in person this year.  She spent 10 days there.

This video put things in perspective for me because as I sent Diana my weekly progress update on Monday, I sounded so whiney.  Telling her how I struggled with cravings last week and gave in to chips and eating out, blah, blah, blah.

Really? Talk about #firstworldproblems.

The kids Diana and Micah sponsor are lucky to get one good meal a week and I am whining about my struggles with TOO MUCH FOOD?

Poor me.

Sooooo, this week has been awesomesauce and I am looking forward to what next week’s update will look like!

Cardio:  Treadmill (ran 2 miles, sprint intervals for 1 mile, ran 1 mile)

Weights: Glutes and Hamstrings

Meal #1: Oats with protein powder

Meal #2: Rice cake with peanut butter and a protein shake

Meal #3: Chicken, black beans, salsa fresca, spinach

Meal #4: Two whole eggs

Meal #5: Tilapia with brussel sprouts

I wrapped up the day with crocheting while watching TV with Justin.  Some of our favorite shows include Happy Endings, New Girl and Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23.

What shows are you watching this season?

Yesterday started with TITLE BOXING!!!

I haven’t been to Title Boxing since around July or August.  A break is just what I needed.  I enjoyed every second I was in there.  Nothing like going to one of Cisco’s classes to get a slap in the face of how out of shape I am.

I wore my Fitbit and killed it.  The last one I wore to Title Boxing I killed because it got too wet from sweat.  What’s the definition of insanity?

Oh well.

After getting everyone up and going for the day, I headed downstairs and lifted weights, shoulders.

Meal #1: Oats with protein powder

Meal #2: Rice cake with peanut butter and a protein shake

Meal #3: Chicken, black beans, homemade salsa fresca and spinach

Meal #4: Left over turkey burger, chicken with roasted brussel sprouts

Meal #5: Filet Mignon with roasted brussel sprouts

I guess I didn’t take very many pictures yesterday of my food. Geesh.

My weight is steadily going down and my body fat has gone down 3% in three weeks.   I have had a pretty shaky start so I need to have some really good weeks and see what can happen.

Finding Balance

Man, sorry I keep disappearing.

As much as my body is responding to being back on plan. I struuuuuggled last week.  I had a lot of days where I was light headed every time I stood up and felt nauseous.  I was definitely having a reaction mentally and physically to less calories and carbs.  I have to push through those days and just know that it is a temporary feeling.  It’s hard when I am in the middle of it and I just want to grab a bag of chips and eat some tacos. (which I did both of those things last week. oomph)

I got all my cardio in because, let’s face it, I LOVE cardio!  Weights, meh.  I want the look that weights give me so I’ll do it, but I don’t love it like I do ANY type of cardio.

Must. Lift. Weights.

I just wanted to hang on the couch with my girls.

And crochet.  Which, obviously, I did. Way too much. Those are Christmas hats for the KC Divas.

I also decided it would be a good time to get into the doctor and get labs drawn.  I need to get back to being consistent with a good vitamin and Vitamin D supplement.  I’m sure my electrolytes are jacked.  I was craving a lot of salt last week.  I go back next week to get my results and see what I need to be taking.  My blood pressure always runs on the low side and then with decreasing my carbs, I’m messing with my sugar levels, so it’s no wonder I was light headed and nauseous.  I just need to get everything balanced back out.

Friday night, I went over to my Sister’s for my nephew’s birthday. No cake for me.

Saturday morning, I met some of the KC Divas at 6am for a workout.  Gosh, I love those girls.  We have so much fun while burning a ton of calories and even some practice walking/posing.

I ran home to clean up and eat before heading to a show in which three of the KC Divas were competing.

Back at home, it was time to throw a pie in the oven (which I bought at the store. booo.) so we could go to my Mom’s for Thanksgiving dinner!

From my Mom’s, we headed down to the Savoy Hotel where we spent the night!  This hotel was built in 1888 and is very cool.

It was wonderful to spend a night out and away from all the responsibility of our house.

We met up with some great friends to eat dinner and hang out for the night.

When we came home on Sunday, I made a pile of chicken because I ate way too much on Saturday and needed to get back on plan.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

It’s Thanksgiving week!

I had a great day today. Come back tomorrow and I’ll tell you about it!

Eat, Sweat, Repeat

I need to replace my battery in my big camera and that has been keeping me from blogging.

Sad excuse.

Especially since it takes like 2 seconds to replace the battery.  I don’t think about doing it though until I am dead tired from cardio and relaxing and then the other room seems sooooo far away where the replacement battery lives.

I haven’t been up to much anyway.

Lots of eating.

Lots of sweating.

And eating.

And sweating.

And eating.

I feel great.  Lifting weights seems to be my biggest obstacle.  I love cardio (and eating) but getting myself downstairs to lift weights is another story.  I’m doing it but it’s not my favorite part of the day.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Lace ‘em up!

Good Morning!

This is going to be short and sweet because I want to hop on the treadmill before I let myself get sucked into my book or crocheting or pretty much anything else besides burning calories.

Yesterday started with an hour on the elliptical.  While reading.

(That’s about as close to a progress picture as I am going to get right now.)

I just didn’t feel like doing it.  I wanted to sit on my fanny with a good book and a cup of coffee.  I knew that wasn’t going to get me closer to my goals, so I put on some NEON and took my book with me to the elliptical.

I also did a back workout and was glad when that was over as well.  It was just one of those days.

I have found myself in that place where my to-do list is getting thick and heavy so it makes me not do ANYTHING. Instead, I end up crawling into a book to forget about it.

Meal #1: Egg whites, whole eggs, gluten free toast

Meal #2: Turkey burgers, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts

Meal #3: Handful of gluten free pretzels

Meal #4: Turkey burgers, brussel sprouts

Other highlights

from yesterday included receiving the BIC bands that ordered:

And a big fat box of coffee!

Sometimes I think I order stuff just because I like getting packages delivered!

It’s so exciting when I hear the door bell ring (and then I wait so I don’t actually have to see or talk to anyone) and then there it is!  Just for me!

Okay, time to lace up my running shoes and hop on the treadmill.  I need to get some endorphins pumping and tackle that To-Do list today!

Time is Flying

Well HELLO there.

How did it get to be Wednesday?

Time got away from me.

Let’s see, since I last posted….

I spent Thursday and Friday avoiding chocolate (T.O.M.).

I resurfaced on Saturday and got back to work.

I have eaten foods that look like this:

(The creamy dressing in the above picture is Walden Farms Blue Cheese dressing and is just okay.  It will do the trick when I am craving a blue cheese taste.)

I have done workouts that leave me looking like this:

My first week back on plan felt so good and got rid of 4 pounds.  I’m sure it was mostly water since I was also on my period, but that’s just the kind of momentum I needed!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and beginning of this week.

See you tomorrow!
