Updates and Appreciation

Good Morning!

Hope everyone is having a great start to their week!

Grandpa Update

First of all, thank you so much for the continued words of support and kindness for my family.

Grandpa is back in ICU for testing and observation. Now he is having such severe anxiety that he doesn’t want to be weaned off the oxygen they are giving him, either by mask or nasal cannula.  They will take it off of him and he’ll be fine for a while and then he’ll think about not having it and start panicking and saying he can’t breath!  Poor guy.  Hopefully, over the next couple of days, as he gains strength and eats and gets up for walks, some of the anxiety will pass.  He is also having terrible nightmares, which I read about people who have been on ventilators and this seems to be a common side effect.  Hoping for those to pass soon as well so he can get some sleep!

Grandpa #2 Update

I didn’t say anything about this last week because I was already filled up with bad news, but my Step-Grandpa (my Stepdad’s Dad) has been battling cancer since this past December (I think I’ve mentioned that before).  Chemo has been really hard on his body (not that it’s ever easy), but he ended up in ICU as well last week. He is out now, but still in the hospital.  They are working on getting his immune system built up and some nutrition in him.  It’s been a tough week for that side of the family as well.

Hopefully this week will bring good news and both Grandpa’s will gain strength and turn that corner to the road of recovery!

I chose not go to the hospital yesterday and get some errands ran and paperwork done. I was afraid if I started the week by not working on my to-do list, the week was going to get away from me!

I kissed Justin good bye for a day of golf with his Dad and then I got busy.

Oh, quick side note, Justin got a FitBit. He started walking the golf courses (that’s his push cart folded up by his feet).  The first course he walked, it told him he had walked 9 miles and 54 flights of stairs and then yesterday he walked 10 miles and 34 flights of stairs!  Holy Crap! We were both shocked.  So proud of him for walking the courses!

I started the day with a 5-mile run.

Once home, I leashed up the girls and took them for a walk.

After breakfast, I got started on paperwork and then headed out for my long list of errands.

One of those errands consisted of purchasing some new running shoes!

I can’t wait to slip these on this morning and hit the streets!

On Facebook, yesterday, I wrote a status about running because I CAN and about not taking our lungs or health for granted.  With all that has happened with my Grandpa and not being able to breath and the weak state of his heart, I am so appreciative of my health (both mind and body).  I don’t want to take that for granted.

I appreciate every step I take.  Every deep breath.  Every time my heart pounds as I sprint up a hill.  It feels good to be a live!

  1. Whoa, so sorry about everything that you're going through with your family right now. I sure hope things get less stressful soon.
On the bright side...yay for Justin's Fitbit & yay for new running shoes!!

    1. I know, right?! I ordered a Fitbit for myself this morning!

  2. FitBit huh. I never heard of them till today. They look pretty awesome!
