Good Morning!  Today is Leap Day!  Justin has been filling me in on the facts about Leap Year all week.  Today we shall celebrate this extra day of the year by purchasing furniture and getting free delivery.

2012February 018

Oh, Sara.  She went to sleep like that.

Yesterday started with a 5 MILE RUN! Here is how it went down. I didn’t feel like doing cardio at all. I finally decided to not think about it, just do it. I was going to hop on the elliptical for an hour. I put on a pair of running shorts. They were too tight.  I gasped. I put on my running shoes and headed outside.  It’s been a while since I ran outside so I told myself I would just run 3 miles and it’s okay if I have to walk some of it.

I ran 3 miles without walking.  I told myself I’ll just run one more, it’s okay if I have to walk.

Mile 4, done, feeling great!  I told myself, just one more mile, it’s totally okay if I have to walk or not even finish it at all (also, secretly telling myself…you totally have this…push through!) Now you know how my brain works…I talk to the self that is talking to myself.  Oh dear.

Killed mile 5 and ran it all in 50 minutes!  I didn’t have my Garmin on so I had no idea what pace I was keeping.  I was thrilled to walk in the door and see that it had been 50 minutes!

I leashed up the girls and took them for a walk.

I felt so good. I love running.   I don’t listen to music when I am running out in the world.  I love the sound of my feet hitting the pavement and the rhythm of my breath along with it.  It puts me in such a relaxed place.

Sunday + Monday

Good Morning!  Sorry my posts have been a little sparse the past several days. Just not much to post about when I am laid up with my heating pad all weekend.

2012February 061

I’m not sure why I didn’t post yesterday, though. Here’s a quick recap of Sunday.

I made this breakfast casserole for everyone on Sunday morning.  It’s hashbrowns, eggs, canadian bacon, and spinach with cheddar cheese on top.  You pretty much throw everything in a baking dish and bake at 350 until the eggs are set and edges start to turn brown. I think I cooked ours around 45 minutes, then topped it with cheese and stuck it back in until the cheese was melted.

2012February 024

It was beautiful out, so we spent quite a bit of time outside.

2012February 028

Sunday evening we had family dinner with my Mom and Stepdad’s side and I cooked two whole chickens with potatoes and carrots.

2012February 037

I did one batch in the crockpot and one in the oven.  The crockpot batch was much better.  I’m bummed I forgot to get pictures.  My Mom brought green bean casserole and my sister brought dessert. It was a great evening.

Yesterday morning started with Title Boxing. Evidently I had some left over mascara on my eyes and when I got in my car to go home, I had black streaks running down my cheeks. Nice.

Love seeing the sunshine on my way home in the morning.

As soon as I got home, it was time to eat!  Oats with chocolate protein powder and a banana.

2012February 002

After getting everyone up and ready for the day, I had an appointment with one of our clients and then we did some furniture shopping for our downstairs.

First up though, lunch.  We ate at Yard House and I had a greek salad with sweet potato fries.  The fries came with a maple, bacon dipping sauce. Oh my, it was good for a couple of fries but way too sweet.  I just like plain sweet potato fries.

Our furniture shopping was a success and we’ll making a purchase very soon for some new stuff for our downstairs living room!

I finally received my iPhone cover I ordered over a week ago. I designed it at  I wanted it to be something that reminded me of Justin and I and also made me smile every time I picked it up!

2012February 008

That is pretty much a picture of Justin and I in the form of frozen yogurt (in case you are new to the blog, I’m the one on the right!)

Neither of us felt like cooking last night, so we went for a quick meal out of the freezer. Dinner was coconut shrimp with sweet chili dipping sauce.

2012February 011

I know, not a veggie to be seen anywhere.  We baked them in the oven and they were super crispy and perfect.

I ended the evening with playing Words with Friends and watching The Voice. I can not get enough of that show!

Time to lace up my shoes for some steady state cardio!  See you tomorrow!

New Workout Clothes

Yesterday was another beautiful weather day and I spent some time outside soaking up some Vitamin D and watching the dogs play in the yard.

As beautiful as it was, it was also muddy.  Piper avoids any muddy or wet areas in the yard. Not Sara. She plows right through anything to get where she’s going. She was a mess when she was ready to come in and had to go straight to the tub.  She HATES taking a bath so by the end, it looked like we both had been in the tub!

2012February 006

Prior to the exciting tub experience, we went out for lunch and stopped by Dick’s Sporting Goods on the way home.  I picked up some new Nike Capris and fun tanks.  It’s so hard to fork over the money but I wear them to death and every day so I guess it’s worth it.  The Nike running capris are my favorite.

2012February 011

The tanks were just fun and NEON! Love all the bright colors out right now!  The yellow tank is Under Armour. I love the twist in the back!

I started the day at Title Boxing.  This is one of the better pictures I took! ha!  Total sweatfest, as usual!

After getting everyone up and on their way, I headed to the gym to meet my friend, Noreen, for an upper body workout.

An hour or so later, I headed to my Mom’s gym and put her through a full body workout.  I did not lift weights with her but I hopped on an elliptical next to her for about 10 minutes.  It was fun!

Meal #2: Egg whites, gluten free toast and a Cutie

Meal #3: Abuelo’s: Soup, salad and chips/salsa

Meal #4: Candy. After lunch and buying workout clothes, we headed over to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory where I bought peanut/caramel clusters the size of my fist and Justin bought pineapple slices that were 1/2 dipped in chocolate!  Seriously.

Meal #5: Soup (chicken, carrots, onion, green beans, peas, spinach)

2012February 009

We settled in for the night and watched Survivor, Modern Family and Happy Endings!

Time to break in my new workout clothes! See you in the morning!

Chicken Veggie Soup

Good Morning, Friends!  Today is one of those mornings when I would rather get sucked into Pinterest for the morning instead of doing anything else!  I have to keep my head on straight, and get my fanny to Title Boxing in a little bit.  Cisco, the regular 6am trainer, is still out with the flu.  I am a Cisco snob and only go to his classes, so with him out, it’s a good opportunity for me to see what the other trainers are like.

Yesterday was a pretty productive day.  I got appointments made, paperwork done for the group home and lots of crocheting!  I needed to revise a portion of our home’s policies and procedures, so that took a good part of the afternoon. Feels good to have it done. I’ve been putting it off for awhile now.

I started the day by heading downstairs and hopping on the elliptical for an hour.  I kept my speed at 5 mph.  No resistance. No incline. Just steady state, 5.0 for 60 minutes.

I really had to push it during that last mile.  My feet and hands were starting to fall asleep (the elliptical does that to me for some reason!) and I was getting tired.

I really wanted to get 5 miles done. There was a lot of self talk but it felt so good to complete it!

Meal #1: Chobani black cherry yogurt with Udi’s gluten free granola

Obviously, I love soup!  This batch is not my best though.  The broth isn’t as good as usual.  I also had a snack of cake and a snack of chips. Boo.

Even more reason to get myself to Title Boxing! See you tomorrow!

Piece of Cake

Good Morning!  I am waking slooooow this morning.  I woke up early, like usual, but am feeling a little hung-over and sluggish.  You’ll see why in the “meals” section!

2012February 004

Yesterday was cloudy and rainy, but I woke up ready to get stuff done.  We did some major grocery shopping.  I wanted to stock up on lots of good food because it’s getting ready to be that time of the month and I want to have food prepped and easy to grab!

I started the day off with Title Boxing.  For the first time, I took a class not led by Cisco.  He’s out with the flu so another guy took over and it was just as good!  The energy and intensity was not as high as a Cisco class, but I was a sweaty mess by the end (and sore today) so that’s really all that matters!

Later in the morning, I headed down stairs and knocked out this full body workout:

Meal #1: Gluten free oats with chocolate protein powder

2012February 010

Meal #2: Rudy’s gluten free toast with natural peanut butter, Chobani peach yogurt

2012February 011

Meal #3: Chipotle (brown rice, black beans, fajita veggies, chicken, tomato salsa and tomatillo salsa, lettuce)

2012February 015

Meal #4:  Pretzels (I was cooking soup around this time and didn’t have anything ready to eat)

2012February 017

Meal #5: Home made chicken and vegetable soup.  I can’t believe I forgot to take a picture but I’ll get one today because I’ll definitely be eating this again! The soup is chicken, carrots, onion, peas, green beans, and spinach.

Then I ate a piece of cake. Yellow cake with chocolate icing.

2012February 022

And that, my friends, is why I am feeling hung over.  Honestly, I didn’t think it would bother me since it was only one piece and I haven’t eaten any gluten since last Tuesday.  That piece of cake went to work on my system!

A round of cardio and a lot of water should get me feeling back to normal.

Every month around my T.O.M., I think about a post I read by Healthy Tipping Point about the Diva Cup.  I am so curious about it and want to try it but am little afraid of it.

Have any of you heard of it?  Used it? Know anyone that uses it?

Slept In

I slept in yesterday until 6am.  Well, Sara woke me at 3am to go potty, but I went right back to sleep until 6am.  I must have needed the rest.  I felt great yesterday.

I started the day out on the elliptical, did the usual stuff around the house and then settled in to the recliner for some crocheting.

Sara seems to have stopped chewing on things (shoe strings and blankets, specifically) so I bought some new shoe strings this weekend along with some yarn to make a new blanket. I am three skeins in to an eight skein blanket. It will probably take a week to complete.

Elliptical: After a 5 minute warm up, I tried to keep my pace at 5mph and then varied the incline and resistance.
