“Forks over Knives”

I had hoped this post would start out with, “Yesterday started with the following workout”, but a workout didn’t end up happening.

I ended up messing around on the computer until it was time to awaken our household.  Then I got wrapped up in getting our laundry done until it was time to get my haircut.  Which was the most exciting thing I did all day.  It felt good to get out of my nightgown and get cleaned up to go out in the world.

While getting my haircut, my hairstylist told me about the movie “Forks over Knives”.  She hasn’t actually seen it yet, but after her story, I really want to either grab the book or watch the movie.

Here is a summary of what Gretchen told me:

She knows this lady, that has a son, who at one point needed a heart transplant.  Son got the heart transplant and they warned that people who get transplants are at high risk for getting cancer.  Son gets cancer.  His doctor’s advise that due to the new transplant and medications he is on, there is not a lot they can do for treatment.  No one thinks he has long to live.  The lady and her husband take a leave of absence at work. It’s a very sad time. They all think this is the end.  Son watches movie, expresses to Mom that he would like to try this diet, Mom says sure, I’ll do it with you.  Six months go by, son is still alive, there are no more traces of cancer.  The End.

Like I said, I have not read the book or watched the movie.  I also have no proof that whatever this diet is cured this young man’s cancer.  I am just relaying the story. 

I will be purchasing the book or movie today, possibly both.  I love stuff like this.  I love hearing about how food cures our bodies.  I think it is all so interesting and fascinating.

With that being said here is what I put in my body yesterday!

Meal #3: Gluten free toast (Rudy’s), protein powder mixed with just enough dark chocolate almond milk to be like peanut butter, banana

Meal #4: Salad - baby romaine, green leaf lettuce, broccoli, red onion, cucumber, tomato, green and black olives, canadian bacon, Newman’s Own Olive Oil and Vinegar

I am meeting a friend at Title Boxing this morning, so a workout is definitely in my future!

Oh, and I haven’t forgotten about finishing that “Blog Game” from yesterday, I just didn’t feel like dealing with it this morning!


  1. I hope for your sake that it's not like Food Inc. I watched that a couple of weeks ago and have only eaten animal protein twice since then! I was traumatized!! Can't wait to hear what you think of it. And I agree that food's effect on the body is fascinating!

    1. I have not watched Food, Inc because I know what they are going to show and I battle with myself about that because I love animals and I hate the way they are treated so that I may eat them, but I also love chicken noodle soup. :(
