Peace and Quiet

I love and look forward to the quietness that comes with getting up early.  The world is still dark and everything is peaceful.

2011November 005

We were supposed to both be waking up early this morning and driving to Arkansas, but our sitter called last night and had two of her five children throwing up! Yikes!   There was no way I could feel upset with that situation going on, she definitely got the worse deal.  She was looking forward to coming to our house where there is peace and quiet and instead got stuck with two kids projectile vomiting.

Yesterday’s Workout

I started yesterday off with a workout from home. I did 10 minutes on the elliptical and then 10 minutes on the spin bike, following by:

3 sets of

  • Weight Exercises (10-12 reps)
    • plie squat
    • lateral/medial lunges
    • Romanian dead lift
  • Body Weight Exercises (15 reps each leg)
    • Step up with kick back
    • Donkey kicks
    • Peeing dog (I’m sure there is a better name for this, but you know what I mean!)
    • Peeing dog with side kick (not sure the name of this exercise either, leave your leg out to the side and kick)

My fanny is feeling the burn today!

Yesterday’s Meals

Meal #1: Brown rice pasta, turkey, peas

Breaking News

I have decided not to compete in the Spring, or ever, I’m not really sure.  I was going back and forth with it last month and then decided I was definitely going to do it.  Then the past two weeks hit.  My grandpa passed away of liver cancer, my step-grandpa got diagnosed with liver/lung cancer, Justin’s step-grandpa passed away and then Katy, who died of several health issues but three different doctors were pretty confident in saying she had liver cancer (we didn’t end up doing the biopsy because they weren’t sure if she would make it through it).

    My goodness, I miss her.

After all that has happened, I feel an urgency to live a healthy life style.  And since I’m not confident I even know how to do that, I want to spend 2012 exploring what that means in my life.

I don’t want to follow a rigid workout and diet plan right now.  I want to exercise everyday and be mindful of what I eat, but if that means a slice of pizza and salad and chocolate covered almonds and gluten free cookies, I don’t want to go nuts about it.

I just want to live and be healthy.

*Disclaimer: I reserve the right to change my mind in January when the competition season is in full swing and jump in with both feet at the last minute.

  1. Thanks for the reminder about those fanny moves! I need to do a few sets (or 1000) of those, lol!
I totally hear you about competing vs. living healthy. It's NOT an easy lifestyle either way. You're young & have an awesome support system, & you don't have to rush into competing again. If you take a year off, for you, it's fine because competitions will always be there!
Your bloggie friends understand & support you either way too!! ;)

  2. I love your honesty lol and your disclaimer - and I agree that you should do what is right for you and your life - only you can decide that. You have a had a very tough week - go get a massage or something! :)

  3. I too have decided not to compete anymore. I decided that a few weeks after my first and only competition, though, because I saw a drastic shift in my quality of life. Not competing gives me less stress, more time with friends and a regular life....competing makes me constantly stressed and cranky. No thanks! :)

  4. i think that if you have chosen to not do it to focus on being healthy, that's a great idea. wow with this liver issues huh? that's horrible :(

  5. Awwww. Geez, Stacy! Every single day is a new opportunity. You have ceratinly had a rough few weeks. What a difference and day makes and yes, you can ALWAYS, always change your mind.

  6. YES! Healthy and living life to the full is what it is about. And I agree, the disclaimer was a good option. :)

So sorry about all the bad new you've had this month. A big hug coming your way.
