Being Thankful

Yesterday started with taking the girls for a walk.  I brought my little camera to take some pictures along our walk and the battery was dead! Don’t you hate when that happens?  After walking with all three of them, I took Sara back out and ran for 15 minutes.  Even though it wasn’t for that long, it felt good to run!

I thought it would burn some of her energy but she still wanted to play in the backyard when we got home! Crazy kid!

I think the 90 crunches and 70 leg lifts were the hardest part!  My hip flexors are still talking about it this morning!  It was a good little workout and kept my heart rate up. 

Breakfast was next on the agenda: Pancakes!

A friend on Facebook posted her pancake recipe so I decided to try it out.

  • 1/4 cup oats (I used 1/2 a cup)
  • 1 scoop protein powder (I used vanilla ice cream)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon applesauce (she used sugar free and then added Stevia, I just used regular cinnamon applesauce)
  • 3 egg whites
  • Cinnamon
  • honey drizzle

There were too dry.  I should have stuck to the 1/4 cup of oats or cooked them less!

After getting everyone up and on their way, I was going to go to the Y and take a Pilates class, but remembered I needed to take Katy to get her glucose checked.  It was still high so her insulin got bumped up again.  I talked to the doctor about testing for Cushing’s so we go in for that this morning.

The test is an all day test.  They inject her with something at 8am and then draw blood 4 hours after that and then again 4 hours after that.  She would have to stay in a cage all day for this to happen, but since I’m home during the day, I’m going to just run her up there every 4 hours and bring her home. I HATE the thought of her sitting in a cage all day! 

I didn’t have a whole lot of energy yesterday.  It’s almost that time of the month and I was just feeling tired and not very hungry which is surprising.

At some point during the day I ate a whole sleeve of Thin Mint cookies and that did it for me and Girl Scout cookies.  I found my edge and then went over it and did not feel good the rest of the day!

Don’t get me wrong, that’s not the first time I’ve eaten a sleeve of thin mints.  I’ve just eaten too many over the past several days and yesterday was too much!! The only thing I felt like eating was brown rice cakes and peanut butter for dinner.

I did a lot of crocheting again yesterday.

Oh and my sister, Vann, got her wedding pictures back!  They are beautiful!  I looked at them over and over again!  I’ll share more when I purchase some. There are so many good ones, it’s going to be hard to choose!

I really enjoy reading all the “I’m Thankful For” Facebook statuses that people are posting during November.  I haven’t jumped on the wagon, but each time I read one it makes me think of something I am thankful for as well.

Last night, I watched the Diane Sawyer interview with Gabrielle Giffords and, oh my, I am thankful for so much.  Kissing my husband. Speaking. Walking.  All those little things that make my life what it is could be taken away in a second.  There is so much I take for granted and I guess that is just what happens as we move through life, but I am so thankful for a healthy mind and body.

It’s time to get back to work on that mind and body!


  1. oh my gword I love girl guide thin mints! but I can never find girl guides anywhere.....you'd think it would be easy to get those cookies...but let me tell you its a mission.

  2. You are so right! We are so very blessed, and it is so easy to take all that for granted. We get all worked up over the silliest things. Sometimes I try to remind myself to be thankful for even our dirty clothes and dirty dishes, because that means we have plenty of clothes to wear, & more than enough food to eat. I should be thankful that I am healthy enough to do my own laundry & cleaning and not have to depend on others to do it for me. Thanks for the reminder!!
    Fingers crossed that Katy does well with the testing today.
