Happy Halloween!

It’s Monday and HALLOWEEN!

That cracks me up!

People get so creative with pumpkin carving.  We don’t carve any pumpkins.  I set some out, but they don’t get carved.  It’s very yucky and messy and since I don’t have kids, I don’t feel the need to put myself through that!  I like to see what other people come up with though!

This weekend was pretty boring to blog about. I did a whole lotta laundry and some cleaning and some crocheting.  Please try to only look at the scarves.  I just took these and it’s 6 o’clock in the morning!

I am in love with making these super long infinity scarves!  The mustard one and the purple one I made shorter so they only go around my neck once or twice and fit tighter.  I think those will be good with a big winter coat.  They won’t be too bulky.  The super long scarves will be better with thinner coats or no coat at all!

I also watched a lot of QVC.

I’ve decided I need a pressure cooker! Does anyone own a pressure cooker?  If so, do you use it like you thought you would?

The one on the left is a Montel William’s pressure cooker and the one on the right is a Cook’s Essentials. They both had really good presentations on QVC and since I am in the mood for soup, I really want one!  Instead of it taking 3 hours to cook soup, it could be done in under an hour! Whaaaaa?

I had a great day yesterday.  Hope you guys did too!

Justin played golf with his Dad, so I got some stuff done around the house, met the Junky Munky girls again to give them some more hats and catch up on the phone with my Mom and an old friend.  I took all three dogs with me for a car ride to meet up with the Junky Munky girls.  They loved it!

Yesterday’s Workout

I started the day off with Title Boxing.  Oh my goodness, Cisco was fired up yesterday morning!


His intention is always for us to burn 1,000 calories and I have no doubt I burned every single one of them yesterday morning!  It was explosive!  That’s the best word for yesterday morning’s class. Explosive.  The music was loud, Cisco was in constant motion around the room, circling all of us,  yelling,  encouraging us to work harder, to push ourselves beyond our comfort zone.   It was awesome.

Meal #4: Pretzels, gluten free cereal with dark chocolate almond milk. I really have to start measuring my cereal.  I put down probably 2 or 3 cups yesterday! SO GOOD!

Meal #5: Protein Powder, peanut butter and granola.  I wasn’t very hungry due to all the cereal I ate!

I had a spoon of peanut butter later in the night as well.

Yesterday was the perfect temperature to wear the new scarf I made.

I wore it as shown in the first picture but I love that it can be worn in many ways.  I will definitely be making more!

Oooooh, this is going to be a good day! I can feel it already!  I woke up at 4am, laid in bed for a bit and then hopped up at 4:15 ready to get this Friday going!  It helps that I was in bed at 8pm and asleep by 8:30pm last night.  I tried to keep myself awake, but I was so tired last night.  I didn’t have a nap yesterday, so I think that’s why.


Let’s talk about naps.  This topic came up last Sunday at our Family Dinner.  I have always been a napper.  Everyday around 2-3pm, I take a nap.  And I mean, I get in some comfy clothes, in bed, with the fan on and go to sleep! When I worked in an office, I would come home from work and take a nap.  I love naps!  Taking a nap around that time gives me a second wind for the day.

So, it got me wondering, do other people take naps?

Justin isn’t a napper.  If he takes a nap during the day, he is REALLY tired.  Sometimes after playing golf, he can take a nap, but rarely.

On Sunday, my Mom was telling us that growing up I was always ready for a nap.  In fact, I would come up to her and ask her if it was time for my nap yet.  My older sister, on the other hand, did NOT like naps.  She would announce to my Mom at nap time, that she was NOT GOING TO TAKE A NAP.  Autumn was always very vocal and authoritative.  Mom said Autumn would say, I’ll lay down, but I am NOT going to sleep!  My Mom would say, that’s fine, but your sister is going to sleep, so you lay down and be quiet!

As I got older, whenever I would get in trouble and get sent to my room, I just went to sleep!  I never minded being sent to my room!

So, let’s hear it.  Do you guys take naps?

Yesterday’s Workout

Yesterday was cold and wet when I woke up so I decided I didn’t want to drive anywhere.  Instead, I put my workout clothes on and headed downstairs.

I started with 20 minutes on the elliptical, then did the following workout:

Weight amount is what I held in each hand. I did the first three exercises in a circuit, rested for about a minute, then did the last three exercises in a circuit.

  • Step Ups: 15lb, 15 reps each leg, 3 times
  • Flat bench: 25lb, 15 reps, 3 times
  • Lat Pull Downs while sitting on balance ball: (cable) 45lb, 15 reps, 3 times
  • Hammer curls: 12lb, 15 reps, 3 times
  • DB kick backs: 12lb, 15 reps, 3 times
  • Ryan’s shoulder exercise: 10lb, 15 reps, 3 times

I ended with the elliptical for 10 minutes.

Step ups totally own me but they are so good.  My hamstrings and fanny are still talking about them this morning.

Katy Update:

Took her to the vet for her blood sugar check yesterday and it’s finally down!  It was 278, which is still high (she needs to be under 140) but at least the meter could read it!  It’s been over 500 (anything over that the meter won’t even give a number, it just says “high”).  So, I am super excited for her.  We are on the right track.  The doctor said to keep everything the same and she wants to see her again in 2 weeks.  Hooray!

Yesterday’s Workout

I started the day with Title Boxing.  Totally awesome, as usual.  I was a soaking wet mess at the end.

I always have the intention of going to my friend’s step class at the Y on Wednesdays, but that boxing class just takes everything I have for the day!

I Heart Endorphins

It’s already the middle of week! This week is flying.  November will be here before we know it. Yikes!

But first, Halloween! Does anyone dress up?

I never do.  I like passing out candy and seeing all the kids, but that’s about it.  There have been quite a few Halloweens that we have just turned off our lights because we didn’t want to have candy in the house!  Our neighborhood is super fun for Halloween though, everyone goes all out around here, so I hate to be the ONE dark house on the block!

I woke up bright eyed and ready to go yesterday morning at 4:30am.  I was so happy because that meant I had time to drink coffee, get Katy her breakfast and a shot and head to an exercise class without rushing!

Yesterday’s Workout

I started yesterday off with a step/strength class.  It’s a lot less intense then Title Boxing or the Boot Camp class, but I really like it.  It gives me a good sweat and gives my nervous system a little break!

I am starting to get a little more coordinated with moving around the step also.  I don’t look like I’m just spinning in circles with my arms flailing about (as much). The strength part of the class incorporated A LOT of bicep curls, upright rows, squats, lunges and then abs.


I feel very 1980’s when I do step aerobics, but it’s so fun.  I can see why it’s still around after all these years!

I felt so great when I got home.  I was definitely flying high on endorphins!  Poor Justin wakes up around 7:30am or 8am and I’m talking 90mph because I’ve been up since 4:30am had coffee, a workout and at least one meal!  We start everyday with a big hug and a kiss (I highly recommend starting your day this way! Smile)  then he escapes to his computer for awhile, to get away from me and have some quiet time, before I start going over my to do list with him! Winking smile

Start it Up!

My Monday morning started off FAN-TASTIC! My internal alarm clock didn’t wake me up at 4:30am like I’d hoped.  Instead I snoozed through until 5:30am.  That’s too late to get to either of the early morning classes I like, since I have to get Katy her breakfast and shot, so I headed to the gym to lift weights instead.

Yesterday’s Workout

I started with 20 minutes on the elliptical/stair climber thingy-mig-jig, then headed to the free weights.

I did the following dumb bell workout:

Weights listed are how much I held in each hand. Also, I did the lunges, bench and rows in a circuit 3 times, then moved on to the biceps, triceps and shoulder and did them in a circuit as well.

  • Lunges: 15lb, 3 sets, 15 reps each leg
  • Flat bench: 20lb, 1 set, 15 reps; 30lb, 2 sets, 15 reps
  • One armed row: 20lb, 1 set, 15 reps; 30lb, 2 sets, 15 reps
  • Bicep curls: 15lb, 3 sets, 12 reps
  • Overhead triceps extensions: 20lb, 3 sets, 12 reps
  • Overhead shoulder press: 20lb, 3 sets, 12 reps

Then I hopped on a regular elliptical for 10 minutes

After getting everyone out of here for the day, I ran and met my friend from Junky Munky and gave her the hats she ordered.  I left that meeting with another order!

Once home, I had to run Katy up to the vet to check her blood sugar. She is still too high, so another bump up of the insulin.  I let the doctor know I was nervous about her being so high for so long as I’m afraid she will end up back in the hospital hooked up to an IV drip again.  The doctor let me know that Katy is reacting normally and we want to slowly adjust her insulin and not bring her levels down too quick because that would just send her into a whole other set of issues.

I asked if they would groom her yet and they said not until she’s 100% because they don’t want to stress her out. Sad smile I think her eyebrows are going to stress her out!

Meal #4 was a Pear and Walnut salad from Yardhouse along with some chicken nachos that were shared for an appetizer. I met Vann and Matt there for lunch so I could give her the little mouse costume I made for her co-worker and to see their faces since they just got back from the honeymoon!  I totally failed and didn’t take one picture of our lunch!

I realize it’s mostly sky, but I’m not coordinated enough to drive and zoom and take a picture. In the distance you can see some of the prettiness we are experiencing!

Before heading home, I ran to Hobby Lobby to buy some more yarn. Red heart

Meal #4: I wasn’t very hungry since lunch was pretty big, so I just snacked on some Cheddar Cheese Pop chips!

Meal #5: Spaghetti Squash with meat sauce and a salad (Sorry the spaghetti squash looks like it’s already been eaten once!  I mixed it up before I remembered I hadn’t taken a picture!)

I spent my evening watching Dancing with Stars and crocheting.  I made 5 hats! Boom.

I slept so freaking good last night and was up by 4:30am to get this day started!  Hope everyone is having a great start to their Tuesday!  I can’t believe it’s already October 25th!
