Short Week

I forgot to say Happy 4th of July yesterday!!  Well, I hope everyone had a fun and safe time and for the non-American readers, I hope you had a fun Monday as well!  For us Americans, yesterday was a holiday, so this week will be a short work week.  That always makes everything feel weird.  Today feels like Monday, but is Tuesday.  This feeling will go on all week.  I will check my planner like a hundred times a day because I will feel like I am missing something all week.

We stayed home and did nothing.  Totally boring, I know.  We didn’t even watch fireworks on TV.  We could have sat out on our deck and watched fireworks because the people in the cul-de-sac next to us shot off enough fireworks for a professional display (until way too late)!  We were both tired yesterday and just enjoyed having a lazy day.

After buying Sara her own bed, we were going to try a new sleeping arrangement last night but with all the fireworks going off around us, we figured it wasn’t the best night to try something new.  So, three dogs in the bed again last night.

Katy and Piper are still unhappy with this situation.

If you read yesterday’s post, you know that I took them all on their first walk together.  That was the only exercise I got.  I planned on running and lifting weights and didn’t end up doing either.  My mind is so preoccupied with the dogs right now.  I feel exhausted!  I was doing some reading last night about having three dogs.  Apparently, we have a pack now.  The one thing everyone said over and over is that the humans have to establish themselves as the leader right away.  One reason Katy is so stressed is because now she’s unsure where she falls in the pecking order.  So, we have to make sure she knows WE are the boss and we will take care of her.  What I was reading said that anytime there is a little scuffle, we have to step right in and stop it.  It’s not a time to “just let the dogs work it out”, we have to be the leaders and let everyone know WE are the boss not any of them.

I didn’t know that.  I totally thought we should let them work it out and everyone would naturally fall into their place.

In other news, I ate like crap yesterday!

Well, not ALL day, but I didn’t eat enough meals and then dinner was horrendous.  Lucky for me, my body didn’t even know how to process what I put in it and immediately got rid of it! (too much?)

Didn’t think so.  By now, we are thisclose.

Meal #1: Egg whites with Canadian bacon on a gluten free English muffin with a slice of cheese

Meal #2:  Protein ice cream: almond milk, frozen banana, frozen strawberries, chocolate protein powder

Meal #3: Gluten free pretzels, banana.

Meal #4: This is when things turned dark.  We were both too hungry and the plan was for me to go get Italian for the house, but the place we like was closed.  The next best thing, Arby’s! Yikes.  How we went from an Italian dinner to Arby’s is beyond me, but it happened.  I order a sliced chicken sandwich with curly fries.

It actually, was very tasty (as stated above, my body did not agree).  Justin likes to order two things when we get take out, that way he can have food for later!  So, when he ate his second roast beef sandwich, he couldn’t finish it, so I ate some of that too!

We both decided, enough is enough. We have eaten way too much junk the past couple of weeks. We have got to clean it up!

  1. I am totally feeling you on cleaning it up! This morning I weighed for the first time since last week and I'm up 5lbs! I was like WHAAATTTT! So I'm headed to do some serious cardio and then Joshua is going back with me to our weights. Damn....

  2. I think it may be because you're on such a strict diet for so long and you have your eye on the prize….when you've achieved its hard to say no to all the great eats out there. But you'll get back on track that’s what matters

I had no idea about dogs and how to assert yourself as the pack leader! Learn something new everyday!

  3. You've shown a tremendous amount of willpower and strength before.... and had great success. You'll be back on track in no time.

I have to laugh about the dogs. Enjoy parenting ;)
