Taco Tuesday

My previous post was all about today being my birthday, but I can’t forget to tell you about yesterday!

I started my day off with a 5 mile run.  It felt so good.  I think I say that every time, but it really does!  I came home, leashed up the girls and took them for a walk.  Then it was time for Meal #1:

My sister, Autumn, came over and I put her through a workout (and did it with her).  It was fun!  I love sharing the feeling a good workout gives to others.  She is one step closer to her goal.

When we were done, I made her a protein shake (frozen banana, frozen strawberries, almond milk, protein powder and peanut butter) and a Godwin Bar.  I ate oats with protein, which I wanted her to taste as well.

I had some coupons that needed to be used up so I headed out to do some shopping.

First up was an Aveda Salon.  I had received a certificate for my birthday for a Free fragrance, but I loved two of them!  So, I got one free and purchased the other.  I also grabbed some shampoo and LipSaver because I also received a certificate for double Aveda points for my birthday.  You can get some pretty good prizes with those points.  I am saving them up for something really good!

Next up, was DSW.  I had TWO $10 award checks plus a $5 gift for my birthday from them.  I ended up purchasing two pairs of shoes, one was free from the certificates and the other.…well, they were too cute to pass up!

Last stop was Victoria’s Secret.  I had a coupon for free panties, $10 off a bra and then for my birthday another $10 off of anything in the store.  So, I left there with new hip hugger panties, a bright blue bra and a new swim suit top!

By the time I was finishing up at VS, Justin was on his way home from his dentist appointment and hungry!  So, we met up at home and then headed out for TACO TUESDAY! I haven’t eaten a taco in a long time. What a treat!

When we got home, the big couch we ordered, for our screened in porch, had arrived.

This is how far it made it as of this morning! (Katy decided to come in the hallway and do some stretching just as I was taking the picture! Thank you for showing us your fanny!)

Meal #4 was ground turkey spiced up with cumin, chili powder, minced onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Mrs. Dash Southwest Chipotle.  Kale chips were on the side.

Meal #5 was protein ice cream. 

  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup almond milk

I made one for both of us and then we settled in for the evening and watched The Voice.  We are really loving that show!


  1. What a great day! You may have to post more specifics on what a Goodwin bar is. I may have to google it unless it is something you make.

    To eat good healthy food all day long and go shopping? My favorite kind of day!!!

  2. So I made kale chips...I dont know what I did wrong....but mine taste like well...dirt lol...any suggestions?

  3. A Fine Balance: Oh no! LOL! The obvious suggestion would be to make sure you washed the leaves well. ;) I know a lot of people toss them in olive oil, but I just spray the cookie sheet with Olive Oil Pam and then quickly spray the Kale with the same. Then I sprinkle with Kosher Salt. Maybe that was just a bad batch of Kale. I hope you give them another try!
