Post Holiday Hangover

I don’t have an actual hangover, but yesterday I woke up feeling tired, dehydrated and a little nauseous!!!  Food Hangover!  I get so excited on Christmas day that I forget to drink enough water, I am up too early and I eat waaaay to much sugar!  Yesterday, the 26th, I stuck to soup, salad, veggies and lots of water.  I feel a lot better today!

Christmas Eve started with blood mary’s family pictures at my Father in Law’s.  Then home for last minute Christmas preparations and the delivery of some presents for places we wouldn’t be able to go.  We headed back over to my FIL’s that evening for dinner, drinks and presents!

2010December 002

After all the presents were unwrapped, my MIL had one more gift for everyone……MARSHMALLOW GUNS!!!  As soon as everyone saw what they were, a marshmallow war broke out!  It was a blast (and marshmallows were everywhere)!

2010December 0072010December 0082010December 009

We had so much fun!  After dinner and Christmas cookies, it was time to head home to get a good night’s sleep for Christmas day!

Christmas Day started at my Mom’s for breakfast and presents.  It was delicious (as usual).  I ate one biscuit with sausage gravy, a spoonful of scrambled eggs and one piece of bacon.  I may have had a piece of candy from my stocking as well.  I can tell I’m getting older, because candy doesn’t sound so good that early in the morning any more!  It was a perfect way to start the day! (I didn’t take one picture! I could kick myself!)

Around noon, we headed to my Dad’s for lunch and more presents!  I ate turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread dressing, broccoli and a deviled egg.  I may have had so-many-treats-I-can’t-remember-what-I-ate…and there explains the hangover!

My Dad’s is the house of LOTS.  There was LOTS of food, LOTS of people, LOTS of dogs, LOTS of presents and LOTS of laughs!  Having a big family is always the most fun during the holidays!

2010December 043

By that evening, we were pooped and headed home for our jammies and our bed!  We had a wonderful Christmas filled to the brim with our awesome family!

Next up, New Orleans for New Year’s!!  Stay tuned……

Christmas Eeeeeeeeve!

2010December 019It’s finally here!  Christmas Eve!  This will be a quick post as we have to get moving around here and be at my PIL’s for family pictures in a couple of hours!

Went to the warehouse yesterday and did 4 sets of the following supersets:

2 balance ball ab exercises (This was brutal!  I don’t even know what to called the exercises!)

Weighted step ups and walking lunges

Incline rows and bench bar pull ups (the one where you lay under the bar and pull up)

Lat pull downs and jungle gym rows (I don’t know how to properly describe this exercise!)

The we had Kristin fun time (which isn’t very fun at all!) :

2 min of jump rope then springs (repeat)

10 squat thrusts then toe touch ab exercise (repeat)

hot footed lizard then mountain climbers with our feet on those sliding disks things (repeat)

Then after we did each of those twice we did them all one more time!  I was toast! It was great though!

Came home and ate brown rice with peas and carrots and bean less chili. I didn’t take a picture of it because, like Shepherd’s pie, that meal does not take a good picture!

2010December 004 I wrapped presents ALL day!

We headed over to my Mom and Stepdad’s in the evening and played a fun little game (as seen above)!  We broke up into four teams of three and whichever team could blow up enough balloons and stuff them into their pantyhose so that they would stand up like antlers won!  My team was me, my husband, and my mom and WE WON!!  The above picture is of me, my sister and her two kids.   I am pretty reluctant to playing games, but IT WAS FUN!

Then I headed over to a friend’s house for a quick reunion with some friends that I don’t see very often and one friend I haven’t seen in probably 15 years!  It was fun and great to see everyone and their kids!

Okay, off for more Christmas cheer today!

Christmas Eve Eve!

The next three days will be so fun and filled with so much family!  We are very lucky to have our family close by especially during the holidays.  Some times we like to complain about our family and all the places we have to go each Christmas, but we know how lucky we are!  There are people out there with no family, so I am grateful that we are a couple with too much the perfect amount of family! Be right back

I hit up the warehouse yesterday and we did supersets of the following

Kettle bell swing with single leg Romanian dead lift

Incline bench with dumbbell lateral raise

Flat bench with pull ups

All the reps were 12/10/8/6 except the kettle bell swings and we did 4 sets of 30.  I feel like I am leaving a superset out.  I’ll have to check when I go in today. I only had to do the 4 sets of the kettle bell station once but the other two stations, I had to do twice.  Then they had me hop on the elliptical for a hard 20 minute program.

I was beat and HUNGRY by the time I got home.  The battery in my camera was dead, so I didn’t get a picture of my meal. Thumbs down  I ate a banana pre workout.  For my post workout meal, I ate egg whites, turkey bacon and gluten free toast.  It was yummy!

Besides the great workout, yesterday was not that exciting.

I did some napping and movie watching.

I did some knitting.

2010December 008

I got the rest of my Christmas shopping done.

2010December 001

Oh, and I received the cookies that I ordered from my friend Amy at O So Sweet Cookies.

2010December 003

I ordered one half dozen of each cookie!  They will make beautiful gifts!

The only other meal I ate was another fat salad.  The rest of the day, I was snacky-snackerson with the chocolate covered treats I made! ‘Tis the Season!

2010December 013

I hope everyone has the day off and is spending it doing fun, Christmas related activities!

Merry Christmas Eve Eve!

What day is it?

2010December 003I kept forgetting what day it was yesterday!    I must have looked at my calendar a million times yesterday!  My life is written out on that little book so I check it often to make sure I’m not missing anything!  If it’s not written down, there’s a good chance it’s not going to happen!

My morning started off at the warehouse.  We did 4 sets of each of the following supersets and all the reps were 20/15/10/5.

Weighted squats with Burpees on Medicine Balls (this was so freaking hard!)

Pushups with Split Squats

Flat bench with Single Leg Squats

Bicep Curl to overhead press with Tricep push down.

Then we had to hop on the elliptical for a hard 15 minutes.  I was sweating and had an awesome hair do (as usual) when I was done!  I need to remember to bring one of my beanies because I wanted to run into the grocery store!  I had wet, frizzy hair!  Ha!  Oh well!

I ate this when I got home:

2010December 002

I then spent the next 3 hours at a court house with my youngest brother and step mom due to a poor decision my brother made while out with friends one night.  I just drove them down there and was moral support.  Hopefully he has learned his lesson.  He’s only 21, so he has a few more years to make mistakes.  Hopefully they don’t end in me spending my afternoon at the court house, but maybe if he gets his playing done now, he can get on with his life and be a responsible drinker like the rest of us! Ha!

I came home and ate this fat salad:

2010December 005

In the bowl:

Baby romaine

Red Bell Pepper

Green Olives

Black Olives

Red Onion

Walnuts (I added them after the pic!)

Then I started in making the rest of the chocolate covered pretzels and other goodies that I am going to make this year!

2010December 012

I made a ton of chocolate covered pretzels and then some chocolate covered graham crackers!

2010December 013

Chocolate covered almonds.  These came about because I had a little melted Almond Bark left in the pan and I didn’t want to waste it, so I dumped almonds in and stirred until they were all coated and then dumped them on a pan.  We’ll see how they turn out!

2010December 015

I also had to make a couple hundred more of these!

I was pooped by the time we went to bed!  I slept so good and now I am up and ready for another awesome day!  Oh and today is my sister’s Birthday!!  Happy Birthday, Vann!

Christmas Week!

2010December 010There is always a fun buzz in the air during the week of Christmas!  No one really feels like working.  I love it!  I don’t work outside of my home anymore and this is the ONLY time of year I miss office life.  People are different during this week.  I used to prepare little gifts for each of the people in my office and get to work super early one of the days of this week and leave the gift on their desk.  It was always a hit! Seems like every day either clients or employees are bringing in fun treats and everyone gathers around and laughs and chit chats and not a whole lot of anything else gets done.  You get to see a different side of the people you work with! I may not be in an office anymore, but I can still feel the excitement! So, enjoy it all you office-working-people out there!

I worked out at the warehouse yesterday morning.  It was a good one (again!).  Kristin let us all know that everyday for the next 3 weeks is going to be hard!  That’s great because I need it!  I haven’t gained any weight, but I haven’t lost for a couple of weeks.  Sad smile  I need to kick it into high gear!  I am WAY behind on my weight loss plan.  I received an email from Diana (my trainer) yesterday getting the days of the week and time squared away for when I start my competition prep with her.  She mentioned the only thing left to do is set a start date.  I emailed her back and said we better get started in January!  That way we have a solid 4 months.

I only took one picture yesterday of my meals.  I am letting myself get too hungry and by the time I eat that is all I can think about!  I ate bean less chili with tortilla wraps for 2 meals and salad and a few of those spinach in wontons for one of the meals.  I also had a couple of Christmas cookies and candy throughout the day.

2010December 0012010December 0052010December 010

I put up Christmas lights on our bushes yesterday First time we have had lights on the outside of our house!  Yay!

2010December 002

I still need to work on them a bit, I think the middle bush is looking a little sad, but I am so excited to have outside Christmas lights!

Justin put a tree in our screened in porch with lights too!  (I’m rubbing off on him!)

Full of Christmas!

2010December 021This weekend was full of Christmas festivities!  So, basically that means, I didn’t exercise!  It shouldn’t mean that, but it does.  After all the workouts last week, I was ready for a solid two days of rest.  There wasn’t really that much rest, though.  We were busy, busy!

I actually slept in until 7:30a on Saturday.  That’s pretty late for this girl.  I spent a lot of time working on my blog and reading others.  When I finally got motivated to be somebody, one of my dogs let me know they were out of food, but when I went to fill their bowl up, I realized they were OUT OF FOOD.  Darn!  That means a trip to the store on Saturday, the weekend before Christmas…UGH!  I am very spoiled, now that I work at home, and don’t have to fight traffic or crowds at stores anymore. I get all my shopping and errand running done during the day, during the week.  So, my husband and I did rock, paper, scissors to see who was going out into the world and I lost. Shoot.  I ended up being gone for like 2 hours.  Partly because it was so busy and traffic was ridiculous and partly because I figured I’m already out, I might as well go to a couple more stores!

I got home just in time to start getting ready for our adult Christmas dinner.  Instead of buying gifts for Justin’s sister and step siblings, we all go out for a fun dinner!

2010December 025

We were both smiling (I thought) and then I see that Justin went in a different direction! Winking smile  Justin is drinking a peppermint patty martini and I am drinking a caramel apple martini.

We were missing 2 of the couples this year, but the rest of us still managed to have a great time.  It even started snowing a little as we were leaving the restaurant, so it really felt like Christmas time.

2010December 039

My diet on Saturday wasn’t totally a waste. I had this:

 2010December 001

I must admit, I don’t think I ate anything else until we went out.  Oops!

Justin and I got out of the house early so we went to our favorite place, Wines by Jennifer, and did a wine tasting.  Then we headed over to meet everyone else.  We went to O’Dowd’s and I ate one of each of the appetizers: bacon wrapped shrimp, fried pickle, cheese ball, and a sausage thing wrapped in puff pastry.  They were all delicious! For dinner, I had Shepherd’s Pie.  It was so good, but too much food!  I took a picture of it, but too be honest, Shepherd’s Pie doesn’t take a very good picture. (It kind of looks like it has already been eaten).  I won’t say anymore about that!  I would totally order it again and maybe share with Justin.  It was very hearty!

Sunday, was our Christmas with Justin’s Mom’s side.  Justin was hung over from the adult dinner, so I was pretty much on my own to get the gathering together.  I made sure and ate throughout the day so I didn’t end up starving by the time everyone got there.  Good thing I did, because everyone was supposed to come at 4pm and ended up calling and not coming until 6pm!  I ate a banana in the morning, then egg whites, turkey bacon and gluten free toast.  A couple of hours later, I ate the egg and brown rice meal I am so fond of these days.  Then Christmas cookie baking started and I always lose track of time when I’m baking and decorating cookies.  They turned out pretty good though:

2010December 008

We had decided on appetizers and salads.  I put out big things of lettuce and then all the fixings so everyone could make their own salad.  I guess I didn’t take a picture of everything, but here is the veggie plate of salad fixings!

2010December 011

For appetizers, I had shrimp cocktail, tortilla roll ups (cream cheese, black olives, green chilis) and these little delicious spinach and artichoke cups:

2010December 010

They were so good and so easy to make.  (I got the recipe from the Kraft sight.) After cutting the won ton wrappers, I fit them into the cups of a mini muffin pan and cooked them for about 5 minutes.  While they cooked, I put the following in the food processor: 1 can artichoke hearts, 1 package of frozen spinach, 1 red bell pepper, 2 cloves of garlic, 1/3 cup mayo, 1 cup mozzarella cheese and 1/3 cup parmesan cheese.  Blended that all together and then used a little scooper to fill all the shells.  (I really love my food processor!  It makes everything so easy!) I put them back in the oven for about 12 minutes.  Oh boy, are they good!  And super easy to make (thanks to my food processor!)!  I also made some that were gluten free by using rice paper wrappers, but those didn’t turn out as well.  They tasted good, but the rice paper didn’t cook very well and had a hard time holding up to the spinach mixture.  Next time, I’ll put that mixture into mushrooms!  Yummy!

Justin’s Mom brought rotel with chips (always a favorite!) and crab and cheese stuffed mushrooms.  We may have gotten a late start and some may have still been hung over, but we had a great time!

I am looking forward to working out at the warehouse this morning and then I have to get some crochet orders done.

Happy Monday!

Welcome to Windows Live Writer!

This is my first post using Windows Live Writer !  Yesterday I typed my post in Word and then published it to my blog and it was better than using Blogger’s format, but I couldn’t insert my pictures that way.  I still had to use Blogger to insert the pictures (which drives me crazy!).  So, I read one of my favorite blogs Healthy Tipping Point and she talked about Windows Live Writer in her tips for blogging!  So, after a quick download, here I am and so far it’s great!

I went to the warehouse yesterday morning and I could tell I had been there 4 days in a row!  My body was tired.  It was another great workout and I was glad I went.

We did 4 sets of:

hammer curls (25 reps each arm)

pull ups (25)

Lunges (25)

jump rope (250)

plank to pushup (25)

leg lift with cork screw (25)

russian twist (25)

I came home and ate some oats with protein.  The next meal was with my PILs (in case you don’t know what PIL means, it’s parents-in-law!) at Hereford house where I got a bowl of their steak soup (delicious!) and a house salad.  I also had a couple bites of a roll.  It was a perfect lunch for a cold day like yesterday.  Just what I needed to get me through the last bit of Christmas shopping we had to get done.

Before shopping for others, Justin and I headed next door to DSW to get some new shoes for ourselves…which ended in me getting two pairs and Justin zero and then over to the Aveda salon for some new skin and hair care products for meeeeee!

When we got home, I got busy making one more kind of candy.  These little tasty treats are addicting! My sister made them for our cookie exchange, but I gave all those away.  I have been wanting to make them so I could eat more of them add them to my treat gift boxes.

2010December 001

I made about 100 of them and added them to the boxes I already had started with peanut brittle and chocolate covered pretzels.  These little tasty treats are made of a pretzel, a rolo and a pecan!  I set my oven to 300 degrees, placed a rolo on top of each pretzel and put them in the oven.  I stayed closed and just as the rolo started to get soft, I took them out and pressed a pecan into the top of the rolo!  They are seriously delicious and have I already said addicting?!

So, now my treat boxes look like this:

2010December 004

I took one over to the in laws tonight so I could eat more share with others!

After I got all the candy done, I needed to get something into my belly or I was just going to start mowing through the candy!  So I had some brown rice with peas and carrots and egg whites. I threw a couple of whole eggs into it too.  It really hit the spot.  I added a little “less sodium” soy sauce to it as well. I forgot to take a picture of the meal yesterday, so here is a pic from this morning of the left over rice and the carton of egg whites, you get the idea!

2010December 0052010December 006

I will be having more of this today!

For dinner, we went over to my PIL’s house.  Justin and I brought the appetizers of salami, cheese and shrimp.  My MIL had bought steaks for Justin to cook (he makes some awesome steaks!) and then she made sweet potatoes and asparagus to go with it.  Of course, we drank some wine too!  It was a great night!

Isn’t that so pretty!  My MIL really knows how to make a table setting!  We were home by 10:30p and I’m pretty sure I was asleep by 10:35pm!
