Cardio!

Good Morning!  It’s almost Christmas….I mean Black Friday…I mean Thanksgiving!  Poor Thanksgiving.  In our bargain shoppin’, candy-lovin’, house decoratin’ country, Thanksgiving seems to be getting the boot a little bit more every year.  Christmas candy dominates an entire isle already at the grocery store, people have their lights and trees up and the TV is blaring ads about Black Friday every chance they get!

Let’s face it, these days it’s pretty much pack in as much food as possible and then get up at midnight and go shopping!

I only make fun of it because I wish I had the patience to do it.  I did it one year with my Mom and Sister and swore I would never do it again.  Several years later, Walmart was having some great sale on a TV so I got up in the middle of the night to score one.  Only, I didn’t pay attention to the fact that it was only that price for the first 50 people. So, I stood in a line half a sleep (no where near the first 50 people!) only to find out I would not be getting a TV and then when all the sales officially started in the store it was a mad house.  I could hear shopping carts banging against each other and people running!  I hightailed it outta there and back to my bed!

I think my personality is more suited for Cyber Monday!

Some people love it though.  My sister, Autumn, and her friend look forward to it every year.  One of them spends the night at the other’s house and they sleep in their make up and they have a whole game plan.

Will you be shopping at midnight on Friday?

Yesterday

I started the day by going to the gym!  Yes, I actually exercised yesterday! *high five*

It felt good to get an hour of cardio done first thing in the morning.

I never run to music, but I had just added a bunch of new songs to my iPod and was excited to listen to them.  However, since I don’t regularly use ear buds, I just have the old basic ones that came with my iPod.  They want to slip right out of my ears.

Can anyone recommend a good ear bud that stays put while running?

I did 30 minutes on the treadmill.  I went between running at various speeds to walking at various speeds at various intervals.  I forgot how much I really enjoy doing that.

Then I hopped on the Adaptive Motion Trainer.  I really love that thing!

I set the resistance at 20 and climbed my little heart out for about 15 minutes.  Then I dropped the resistance all the way down and ran for 5 minutes before returning it to 20 and climbing for the last 10 minutes.  My legs were jelly!

I came home and ate some yogurt with granola and gluten free cereal.

Other Events of the day included doing our Thanksgiving grocery shopping and taking Katy to the vet so they could teach me how to use my new glucometer!

She was so good and I feel pretty confident that I’ll be able to get her levels on a regular basis from home now.  A little tip, in case anyone ever has to do this, those little lancets are worthless.  It is much easier to draw up a little blood in a syringe and then apply the amount you need onto the test strip.

I wanted to thank all the girls at the vet for being so patient with me (I know you are going to be shocked, but I can be a little intense and bossy) and doing such a good job in helping Katy, so I made them all hat and scarf sets.  I was so excited to give them and they were equally as excited to be receiving!

I wrapped up the night by crocheting while watching Biggest Loser and the DWTS finale! Loved it!  I must admit, I was secretly rooting for Rob Kardashian.  Of course, JR had an amazing story and was the best dancer, but there was just something about Rob that made me root for him.  Here comes the old-lady in me again….I felt proud of him and happy that he had been able to step out of the shadow of his family.  He has grown up so much on that show.  It reminded me of when Kelly Osbourne was on.  But JR totally deserved it!

Did anyone else watch it? Were you happy with the results?

  1. I'm glad Katy is starting to feel better!

These are my favorite headphones. They're fitted to your ears and never fall out or make your ears hurt.
