Blizzard!

Nope. Not that kind!

Kansas City is hunkering down for the worst winter storm in 50 years!  It’s starting to snow now and it sounds like we are in for another full day of the white stuff with some high winds…..BLIZZARD!  I think the weather people like saying that word.  They don’t get to say it very often, in fact, I don’t think I have heard it used to describe our local weather in my life time.  So, good for them!  They are probably excited. Looks like most of it will stay south of where we live, but we are still in for 6 to 10 inches.  The people south of us are looking forward to 24”!

Yesterday was supposed to be freezing rain and while we definitely got some freezing drizzle, I don’t think we got what the forecasters thought we would get.  Still, it was enough to keep me at home.

Justin and I worked out together yesterday.  It was fun!  We did the following shoulder workout:

  • Early Morning Cardio – 30 minutes on elliptical
  • Elliptical for 3 minutes
  • Overhead press
  • Single arm lateral cable raise
  • Elliptical for 3 minutes
  • Alternating front/lateral raise
  • Reverse dumb bell fly
  • Elliptical 8 minutes

My diet looked like this:

Meal #1: Oats with protein

2011January 001

Meal #2: Oats with protein

2011January 005

Meal #3: Chicken breast, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts

2011January 007

Meal #4: Chicken and brussel sprouts

2011January 013

Meal #5: Chicken and green beans

2011January 017

The chicken breast turned out so good!  I cooked them on our Cuisinart indoor grill with lots of pepper and some salt.  I also cut them in half so they are the same thickness throughout.  That way I get a lot of seasoning with each bite!  Cutting raw chicken this way isn’t the easiest thing to do, but it’s worth it!  Plus it looks like a lot on my plate!

The brussel sprouts and petite green beans were roasted.  I sprayed them with Pam and then sprinkled them with salt.  They are so delicious.  The sweet potatoes were peeled, boiled and sprinkled with a little salt.  Sweet potatoes really don’t need much.  They are so good all by themselves!
